RETRIBUTION REVEALED
Privateer Press Announces New WARMACHINE FACTION
Bellevue WA. May 4, 2009—Privateer Press, Inc. is pleased to announce details on the first new faction to be introduced in its award-winning WARMACHINE tabletop miniatures game: The Retribution of Scyrah.
Releasing in September, Forces of WARMACHINE: Retribution of Scyrah will provide everything players will need to field the new faction, including model statistics, background material, and a modeling and painting guide. The book will be written for use with the upcoming new edition of game rules, WARMACHINE Mk II, which releases early 2010. Privateer Press’ bimonthly No Quarter Magazine will feature articles in issues #25 and #26 that will allow players to use their Retribution of Scyrah models with the current WARMACHINE rules.
When asked about the new faction Privateer Press Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson said, “Retribution of Scyrah will be the first real look at the long-secluded and mysterious elven kingdom of Ios. The very first thing people should note is that these aren’t your standard tree-hugging elves.” In fact, Wilson went on to explain, the faction will include highly disciplined troops outfitted with some of the most advanced technology in the Iron Kingdoms, backed up by the never-before-seen sleek and powerful myrmidon warjacks. “The Retribution of Scyrah will bring amazing new depth and feeling to the WARMACHINE game in terms of play style and abilities,” Wilson concluded.

The shadowhorn breed of satyr has entered the fray with enthusiasm. They are of a more slender build than the stockier gnarlhorn, but their energetic personalities are even more aggressive, and they often display savage glee when closing with the enemy. Their nimble athleticism makes them capable of impressive feats, such as using the momentum of an attacker against it.

PRIVATEER PRESS ANNOUNCES FIRST MONSTERPOCALYPSE EXPANSION
Molik Karn has borne the paingivers’ lash and learned to obey, but his will has never been broken. His service to Makeda extends beyond mere slavery; he has some deeper loyalty to her and brings the full force of his deadly strength and barbaric nature to fight at her side. He truly is a cyclops lord—a giant of his species, cunning despite his brutishness.

This truly monstrous creature bears little resemblance to any beast arisen in nature. It is the organic consequence of a malevolent intelligence bent on creating weapons spawned of its own blood, flesh, and bone. All three of its heads move of their own accord, seeking victims to rip apart with their powerful jaws or breathing out concentrated streams of superheated ash.

As reputedly the most ancient and ferocious dire troll ever to walk Caen, Mulg has become increasingly dangerous and tenacious over the centuries. Envious of trollkin sigils of power, he ordered runes carved into the stony flesh of his back depicting his many great deeds and ancient history. Mulg can focus his inhuman rage into these runes to stifle the power of enemy beasts.

Thagrosh is no longer ogrun. He has become Everblight’s true avatar. It is as though the dragon lurks just behind the top layer of his thoughts, a vast alien presence looking through his eyes and speaking with his tongue. Similarly, the draconic temper increasingly dominates Thagrosh’s mood. This fury is a brand of searing iron that ignites the pure dragon blood pumping through his veins, pushing him to crush and humiliate each foe he faces.

Krueger knows that greatness comes not as a reward for humility or silent dedication. He will rattle the Circle Orboros like a creaky house caught in a storm. He promises to return the Circle to its primordial roots, where the weak make way for the strong and druids are free to drink deeply of nature’s unchecked power. He brings lightning and storm, blood and battle, the crashing power of the earth, and the chance to make Caen tremble beneath their tread.

Hoarluk Doomshaper has remained focused on the fundamental connection between all trolls. He has merged his mind with the most violent and powerful of these creatures and thereby tapped into reserves no shaman has ever known. Not only has he unlocked unimagined regenerative powers, he has gained insight into the primal nature that binds warbeast to warlock and can employ this lore against his enemies.

Makeda has risen in the skorne people’s hour of need as a peerless leader whose vision of their mutual destiny has inspired her soldiers to ever greater efforts. Makeda has vowed to impose order and forge the seeds of a new nation. Solidarity will be the key to rising from the ashes and leading an empire which spans the continent. Any who defy her conviction will fall to the wayside or feel her boots trampling them underfoot.

The murderous Bloodgorgers hail from a kriel of black-hearted savages brought to violent frenzy by the taste and smell of blood. They are thrown away by their masters as fodder for the carnage of war. By feasting on the butchered, Bloodgorgers become nearly invincible as they move fiendishly from one victim to the next.
Bloodgorgers come in a box (PIP 34061). A player may add up to two Bloodgorger blisters(PIP 34062) for a total of ten models and may field two Bloodgorger units for each warcaster in his Cryx army.

Void Spirit
Void spirits are the disembodied specters of departed skorne which, through unnatural compulsion, come back to plague the living. They are never entirely at ease on Caen and thus flicker from one place to another as they fight, making them difficult to corner. Void spirits jealously clutch at the souls of those killed around them, seeking to subject others to the pain they have endured in the terrible Void.
Void Spirit comes in a blister (74044). A player may field up to two Void Spirits for each warlock in his Skorne horde.

Consumers of metal miniatures have noticed that the price of non-ferrous metals has experienced a sharp upward trend over the last few years. At Privateer Press, we diligently monitor the cost of the metal and price our new products appropriately based on current rates. Unfortunately, the cost of metal has skyrocketed over the past couple years. As well, rising gas prices have dramatically increased shipping costs, the repercussions of which can be seen everywhere with the general inflation that affects all of us. As a result, we are in a position where we must increase the prices of older models in order to keep them profitable. We continue to do everything we can to combat raising prices, from purchasing more efficient equipment, buying metal in bulk, and training our staff in an effort to create a more efficient production process. You’ll be seeing some amazing and innovative ways that we’re engineering the models in the future to decrease metal usage. While these measures have mitigated the increased price of metal and have allowed us to stave off adjusting prices for a while, these efforts are unable to completely neutralize rising costs. In order to continue the production of certain items, we must adjust their MSRP to reflect the material’s current price, which constitutes the largest portion of their manufacturing cost. The graph below comes from the London Metal Exchange, displaying the rise in tin prices since January of 2003 when we first started manufacturing. (http://www.lme.co.uk/) At the time of our last price adjustment on January 1, 2007, the price of tin was about $7.00 per pound. The current cost is approximately $11.00 per pound, an almost 50% increase in under 18 months.
We are as loathe to adjusting these prices just as you, the consumer, are to see it happen. We are currently exploring a variety of other manufacturing methods that we hope will lead towards a savings on the cost of manufacturing and the ability to stabilize prices. This includes alternative metals as well as plastic components for the model kits. In any event, commitment to quality remains our primary consideration so that no matter what material we use to manufacture, Privateer Press will continue to deliver the highest quality miniatures to you.
Privateer Press looks forward to a strong and exciting future for our hobby, and to the continued support of the many players, retailers, and distributors who have helped WARMACHINE and HORDES grow over the past five years. Thank you for your continued support. Please direct questions to:frontdesk@privateerpress.com
